Assistant Catering Manager
Salary: £7.50 per hr (£15,600 pro rata, 40hr week)
Date: August 2010

The Assistant Manager will report to Mrs Alex Brittain, owner of Business Lunch Express.com and Delice Coffee Shops ltd. And the Catering Manager. The Assistant Manager is responsible for the day to day management of Business Lunch Express. The businesses operate from Pierre's Hot Bakery at 6 Kingsland Centre, Thatcham.

Business Lunch Express.com is a catering company providing quality catering to businesses, with a turnover of circa £150,000 per anum. This is a demanding post with occasional long hours. The normal hours of work are normally within 6am to 4pm Monday to Friday with the occasional Saturday event.

It is expected that the Senior Catering Assistant works hours necessary to ensure the smooth running of the business, this will mean occasionally some long days. This is due to the nature of the hospitality that the company provides taking orders with no time limits. The hours are as and when required" this allows for reduced work during quiet periods.

You will need to be fit with no history of ill health and free to give 100% to the job. The applicant must have formal food hygiene certificate and other evidence of training to fit this role The job is hands on, so it is important that the post holder has a good knowledge of operational skills, and doesn't mind basic operations duties.

The post holder will have a good knowledge of food production and preparation and will be able to inform staff on proper food production methods and customer requirements.

The company operates a strict HACCP procedures and this will be an expectation that the post holder has experience to execute these documents and dedicate office time and supervisory time to prepare these documents alongside the Manager and owner.

Responsibilities:

  1. Apply company policy on "Safe Food Handling" and keep records where appropriate.
  2. Ordering of all food stuffs. Keeping stock records. Operate a monthly closing stock system. Follow company policy on "little & often".
  3. Liaise with suppliers, keeping on good terms.
  4. Liaise with clients, keeping good relations and maintaining the companies high standard of service.
  5. Preparing customer buffet menu’s with excellent attention to detail.
  6. Working closely with Alex on new accounts, new menu ideas and promotional ideas.

Every support will be given to the post holder there is a good atmosphere with hard working and motivated staff who will benefit from a high level of expertise.
